The Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation was founded in 1946 by Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. The foundation was named in honor of their late son who had died during World War II. The goal of this foundation was to improve the way that society dealt with persons with disabilities and to find ways to prevent intellectual disabilities.
