Day 52 - United Nations Decade of Disabled Persons 1983-1992

In December of 1982 the United Nations declared 1983-1992 the Decade of Disabled Persons. The goal was to encourage activity that would improve the lives and status of people with disabilities. The main objectives were to raise financial resources, better the employment and education opportunities of people with disabilities, and increase the participation of people with disabilities within their communities.
