Day 66 - P.L. 91-230 Education of the Handicapped Act (1970)

The Education of the Handicapped Act (P.L. 91-230) was passed by congress in 1970. This act amended the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. Public Law 91-230 was an effort to encourage states to implement educational programs for individuals with disabilities. The act established a grant program that would assist in the development of such programs.
