Day 67 - 1987 National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Public Law 99-483 stated that the month of March 1987 would be designated “National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.” President Reagan recognized National Developmental Disabilities Month and asked for “individuals, agencies, and organizations concerned with the problem of developmental disabilities to observe this month.” The month was described by the president as an opportunity for these organizations to increase public awareness of the needs and potential of Americans with developmental disabilities.
