In 1990 Public Law 101-336 was passed. Titled, “The Americans with Disabilities Act,” this law sought to prevent and prohibit discrimination based on disability. This law guarantees that people with disabilities (defined as a physical or mental impairment) would have the same opportunities as everyone else to participate in society. ADA ensures equal opportunity in public accommodations, employment, transportation, state and local government services, and telecommunications.
