Day 78 - Laurent Clerc's 236th Birthday

Today, December 26, 2021 is the 236th birthday of Laurent Clerc. Clerc was a deaf man who was born and raised in France. Clerc taught the American Thomas Gallaudet sign language while working at the Royal Institution for the Deaf in Paris. Clerc returned to the United States with Gallaudet and together the pair founded a school for the deaf in Hartford, Connecticut. Clerc spent his life teaching sign language in the United States.
