Today, November 22nd, is the 220th birthday of Samuel Gridley Howe. Howe played a role in the first efforts to educate children with disabilities in the United States. His accomplishments include the foundation of the The Massachusetts school for Idiotic and Feeble Minded Youth and his role as the first director of the Perkins School for the Blind.
